A recently finished mug commission.

I'm aware the photo quality isn't exactly the best, I really didn't feel like pulling the diffusion box down. If the opportunity presents itself, I'll take a better pic when I pack it up for shipping.

yeah, I learned a surprising amount about curling... because you can't seem to find a simple image without being deluged by a crap-ton of history, game play info, and strategy

And those curlers get some hard core injuries... mangled or torn hands mostly... craziness.

Same here... I'd have never thought injuries like that were even possible seeing clips of the game played. I guess you can get your hand caught under the handle of the stone or something... those things are evidently heavy. And then on the old brooms you can get some really nasty friction burns from brushing vigorously enough to do whatever it is that brushing does (I think it has something to do with changing the friction of the ice to alter the trajectory of the stone)... one site even talked about brooms breaking and lodging bits into people's hands... I'd have never thought it was that aggressive a game.

It's references to the sport of curling. I went with classic brooms over the modern ones because you couldn't tell what the modern brooms were when I tooled them (you can't always tell what they are in photos either, so I'm 99% satisfied that the fault doesn't lie with me on that one) on a test piece. If you look close, the hole in the skull is in the shape of a curling stone.

I get the strangest commissions... and I kind of enjoy it that way :D
