I'm making the belt/harness for my friend Adam's FX costume. The belt is basically a re imagining of the 80s Cyclops belt with the overall costume being a mix of the movie and Ultimate X-Men versions of the character.
This is a test piece for the belt buckle cover where I'm trying to decide which texturing I like, whether I want to black line the final product, and which dye/paint I like better for the yellow.
Oh, and I only messed up one stitch on the whole thing, so this is possibly some of my cleanest sewing ever.
I'm still undecided about which texture to use though.
I do know I like the dye better than the paint even though it's darker... it's got a cleaner look (aside from the sloppy spots where I wasn't being careful at all and the black got dragged up onto it... that's why light colors are supposed to go on FIRST when dyeing leather), and that I will definitely be blacklining it because the blacklining makes the colors pop more.
Then I have to make a smaller one for the chest strap where it breaks off into that "Y" shape.
Hopefully he finishes the visor soon, FX is in less than three weeks and I still don't know the size for the pouches.

Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
